An egg-citing day at Ikholwa Hope for our Children

NORTHCLIFF – The Lions Club of Northcliff hosts an Easter egg hunt for the children of Ikholwa.

The Lions Club of Northcliff hosted a very special Easter egg hunt for the children of Ikholwa Hope for Our Children in Weltevreden Park.

The children were excited to forage for the chocolaty delights hidden in the garden.

Renè Carter, president of the club, said her organisation is a community-based one which helps various communities.

“As it is Easter, we wanted to do something for the orphans just to lift their spirits and give them something nice,” said Carter.

On the day, along with the Easter egg hunt, the children were also surprised with handmade knitted bunnies.

Carter shared that previously, Ward 98 councillor Beverly Weweje has suggested that one of the homes the club should look at helping was Ikholwa.

“In the beginning of the year, we assisted Ikholwa with school stationery,” said Carter.

For the rest of year, the club will host various initiatives such as soup kitchens and hairdressing for older women.

It will also take part in the 702 Walk the Talk, where they will push wheelchairs for 5kms, and will also be part of the Fairlands Fete, helping them sell clothes to raise funds for the home.
