SAVF in Newlands welcomes toys and school supplies

NEWLANDS – First National Bank staff members have taken a non-profit organisation under its wing.

The Suid-Afrikaanse Vroue-Federasie (SAVF) Claremont received R10 000 worth of reasons to keep doing the good work they do for the Newlands community.

First National Bank staff members donated R10 000 to the SAVF and the organisation then used the funds to purchase supplies for the two day care centres it runs.

Stationary and toys are purchased with the R10 000 donated by First National Bank staff members.

The centres are Leeutjieland, which accepts babies all the way through to five-year-old toddlers, and Thandani Daycare Centre, which accepts toddlers up to Grade R.

The SAVF is a non-profit organisation which renders services to people in and around the Newlands community. In addition to taking care of two daycare centres, the organisation serves the community through feeding schemes and social work.

Kabelo Motlhala of First National Bank is ecstatic about the card the staff members received from the Suid-Afrikaanse Vroue-Federasie.

The funds they received were collected by the bank’s staff members. The bank later matched the amount staff members raised before donating it to SAVF.

The official handover took place on 29 August when SAVF displayed all the goods it purchased with the funds.

Items bought included toys for the day cares as well as stationery.

On the day, preschoolers from both day cares joined bank officials and SAVF management members to get a sneak peek of the toys and school supplies they will soon enjoy in their respective classes.
