[ONLINE EXCLUSIVE] 10 years of selling art on a street corner

NORTHCLIFF – 'I didn't know this is what I was going to end up doing with my life' – artist

They say art is being able to bend things most people see as a straight line and a Northcliff-based artist does this both figuratively and literally.

Washington Muzondo, a roadside artist and businessman takes thick wire and bends it to make beautiful pieces of art.

Washington Muzondo works on one of his windmill fairies off 14th Avenue in Northcliff.

Muzondo’s work is displayed on the corner of Weltervreden Road and 14th Avenue. He mostly displays his wire-beaded works but this is but a taste of his artistic prowess.

While he is working towards owning his own space to display his pieces, Muzondo does commissioned paintings as well as wire and other metal pieces to put bread on the table.
