Police are happy with how the majority of the public has been treating the rules of the lockdown.
Sophiatown Police Station is pleased to share that the majority of the communities in their policing precinct have been adhering to the majority of the rules and regulations of the national lockdown. Communities in Cape Town have experienced violent clashes with the police while hospitals have had to shut down in KwaZulu-Natal.
Luckily such has not been the case for this police station. Spokesperson of the station, Captain TJ de Bruyn said, “Most of the community do comply with the restrictions but we still do have members of the community that do not adhere to the regulations implemented by the President of South Africa.”
Like at many other stations, De Bruyn confirmed that the number of crimes being reported has decreased since the beginning of the lockdown. “We as the Sophiatown Police Station would like to thank those communities for adhering to the instructions and regulations. If we all work together we can win this war against the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We at Sophiatown SAPS appreciate the assistance of the security companies that assist us in the fight against crime and in this lockdown period.”
They have pleaded with all members of the public to continue adhering to the restrictions and regulations to help save the lives of millions. Those that choose to disobey the rules will be arrested without a doubt.
