156 food parcels bring hope

VICTORY PARK – Emmanuel Place of Hope Daycare Centre received these parcels through the efforts of De La Salle Holy Cross College and community.

The alumni of De La Salle Holy Cross College and community donated 156 food parcels to the Emmanuel Place of Hope Daycare Centre.

A donation that formed part of their Winter Outreach initiative. Emmanuel Place of Hope was established by the Holy Cross Sisters in Shoshanguve, near Pretoria, providing a safe place for vulnerable children in the community. They usually provide daycare for vulnerable children aged two to seven, and aftercare for schoolchildren. However, during the lockdown, they have started supplying food parcels to the families and guardians of the children.

Patrick Munyembate of the alumni committee explained this year marks the 175th Jubilee of the Holy Cross Sisters, “So we really wanted to support some of the great work they are doing in communities all over South Africa.” He also thanked all alumni members, parents and staff for supporting this worthy cause.

Sister Monica Madyembwa, provincial leader of the Holy Cross Sisters of South Africa, thanked the school community for their generosity, “The children at Emmanuel Place of Hope are going to believe in the love of God because you have concretely displayed it.”
