Little ones show off their culture

NORTHCLIFF – The babies, children and staff wore clothes and accessories to celebrate their individual heritages, in celebration of Heritage Day.

KinderKids and Baby Academy in Northcliff celebrated Heritage Day on 23 September at the school.

The babies, children and staff wore clothes and accessories to celebrate their individual heritages. The little ones couldn’t wait to tell their friends during morning ring about their own customs, clothes, language and food. The weekly theme at the school was ‘South Africa’s Heritage’. The little ones learnt about our beautiful country, South Africa, including our national bird, flower, tree, animal and fish. The song for the week was of course South Africa’s national anthem. Delicious braaivleis, pap and corn, to celebrate National Braai Day, was served for lunch.

We love South Africa! The 3-5 year olds of the senior class had loads of fun telling their peers more about their individual customs, food and attire. Photo supplied.

Manager of KinderKids and Baby Academy, Marita Louw said, “We celebrate Heritage Day every year at our school to give all our children and staff members an opportunity to experience the different cultures and customs of the members of our community. We encourage the little ones at our school to be proud of their own heritage. Our main aim is to empower our preschoolers to appreciate and respect our rainbow nation’s rich diversity.”
