A year of cheers and some jeers for Brandcliff House
FAIRLAND – Unfortunately for some, the year was a painful one as a few in the school community experienced the tragic loss of loved ones.
Brandcliff House looks back at the success of 2021.
The staff, teachers and learners of Brandcliff House have made it to the end of another year and are grateful for the year that was.
According to the school’s principal Jonathan Linde, “We must express gratitude to our committed staff, dedicated students, and supportive parents for making this a productive and fulfilling academic year. With minimal disruptions to the school calendar, our staff delivered complete syllabi and assessments across all subjects and grades.”
Going into the year, the school was within the top 10 schools in Johannesburg north based on their 2020 NSC pass rate. Learners and staff worked tirelessly to maintain these results and the principal is looking forward to seeing the outcome in the new year.
Brandcliff House also had an impressive performance in the South African National Computer Olympiad, in which their learners achieved six gold certificates for problem-solving abilities. The senior learners attended a successful series of career presentations hosted by representatives from a variety of leading tertiary institutions for higher learning.
Learners participated in two exciting esports tournaments that were generously supported by the ComicCon Africa team, and the seniors hosted successful fundraising activities for Valentine’s Day and Halloween. The matrics presented an impressive Retrospective Visual Arts Exhibition, and the Grade 8 learners prepared delectable treats at their annual coffee shop event for parents.

Teachers said farewell to the Grade 12 Class of 2021 at the annual valediction ceremony and also had the chance to end the year in style at their matric farewell. “We wish all the students, parents and staff of Brandcliff House a safe, blessed festive season and best wishes as we look forward to 2022,” concluded Linde.
