Festive wishes from Brixton police

BRIXTON – Police will be ready to attend to any suspicious or criminal incidents.

Police share their well wishes going into the end of the year.

Another year has come and gone and Brixton Police Station is pleased to have shared it with the residents of their precinct. While many will get the chance to rest over the festive season, the police are putting measures in place to ensure residents and visitors to the area are safe.

Brixton Police Station Commander Colonel Mkhacani Maluleke shared, “We wish everyone in the community a joyful festive season. Crime is known to rise at this time of the year but we will be doing everything we can to ensure that the community is protected. We will be working with various security companies, community policing forums and neighbourhood groups to attend to any issues.”

The station reminded the public that crimes such as common robberies, which include the snatching of cell phones of people on the road, are still active. This, along with house robberies and theft from and of motor vehicles are things people should be cautious about.

Maluleke said, “People need to be vigilant and careful, these criminals are looking for easy targets. People who are waiting for e-hailing taxi rides, those who are sitting in their cars at the gate or on the road, houses that leave their gates wide open, these are who are often targeted.”

A business that will be operating during this time is also advised to ensure their security systems are up and running and to familiarise themselves with safety protocols and who to contact in an emergency.

The police will remain on standby to assist and attend to any suspicious or criminal incidents. Apart from the crime, safety and security, the station is hoping that it is a peaceful time for all. With the positive Covid-19 cases rising the station is urging the public to practice the safety guidelines to mitigate the spread of the virus.
