World Clean Up Day tackles the Braamfontein Spruit in Sandton
All Spruits Clean Up operation was a success across Sandton and Bryanston, making the Braamfontein Spruit a cleaner and safer space for the community.
World Clean Up Day was a huge success in the Sandton and surrounding communities as teams took to the Braamfontein Spruit for a mass All Spruits Clean Up operation.
Internationally recognised, World Clean Up Day aims to raise awareness about waste, particularly plastic waste, which is polluting the land, rivers, lakes and oceans.

The All Spruits Clean Up operation, coordinated by the Rotary Club of Johannesburg New Dawn and City Parks, saw the clean-up of more than 25km of the Braamfontein Spruit.
The spruit is the longest stream in Johannesburg which runs from the Greater Kyalami area to Parktown. In Sandton, teams gathered in Riverclub, Bryanston East and Rivonia.

“It was a great morning for the community and I was amazed to see so many out on the spruit cleaning up and filling refuse bags,” said Bryanston East Community Forum’s Neil Jackson who led a team near the Bryanston Drive bridge.
