Local figure skater ‘ices’ it

Ava Keenan recently came back home from Canada after placing in the top 10 in an international competition.

De La Salle Holy Cross College learner figure-skated her way into the top 10 in an international competition and her school could not be more proud of her success.

Figure skater, Ava Keenan (10), recently participated in the Provincial Series #4 in Stratford, Canada and achieved ninth place. The school congratulated Ava for having achieved such an awesome feat.

Ava Keenan is in Canada to represent South Africa.

Her mother Elzette said they were very proud of Ava’s success as this was her debut on an international stage. “She worked really hard and it was an amazing experience for her even considering that she was a little sick just a few days before the competition.”
She added Ava was the only South African there, so her having been in the top 10 was an awesome achievement.

Ava now prepares to take part in the South African Figure Skating Association National Championships in March.
