Story books come to life in Victory Park

De La Salle Holy Cross College took part in World Read Aloud Day.

This is why when World Read Aloud Day was recently observed De La Salle Holy Cross College thought it best to recognize the and take part in.

The school described the initiative as one which celebrates reading and telling stories. The college is grateful that their learners have the incredible gift of being able to read and enjoy access to the Umphakathi Centre, their library, which is described as having a wide range of literature.

They did take into account, however, that sadly a literature-rich environment is not the reality for every child, so with this in mind, the college will conduct a book drive during the month of February.

On the day Grades 7, 8 and 9s dressed up as their favourite book character but there was a twist! Learners also had to bring the book as proof. It was said to be lovely to see all the wonderful and creative outfits, and great fun was had by all.
