Johannesburg Water faces service disruptions due to security protests

Ongoing security personnel protests have led to widespread service interruptions at Johannesburg Water depots, with city workers locked out of their facilities.

Residents of Johannesburg are experiencing significant disruptions in water service delivery as protests by security personnel employed by a Johannesburg Water service provider continue. The protests have resulted in locked gates at multiple depots, preventing employees from accessing their workspaces.

According to a statement from Johannesburg Water SOC Ltd, the protests have halted operations at various sites, leading to serious implications for service delivery across the city. “Employees of the water and sanitation utility have been locked outside and prevented from entering and exiting the premises to continue their work,” noted a spokesperson for Johannesburg Water.
