A good month of arrests for Brixton Police Station

The station shares details on the sort of arrests it made during August.

Brixton Police Station arrested 90 suspects for the month of August.

Suspects were arrested for crimes such as possession of suspected stolen property, common assault under the Domestic Violence Act, possession of dagga, common robbery, shoplifting, robbery other than with a firearm, theft, kidnapping, rape, house robbery, possession of unlicensed firearm and arson.

The station’s spokesperson, Jeanette Backhoff, said all these suspects have been to court and, in serious cases, bail was opposed.

“We want to commend the arresting officers and the detectives for their hard work and dedication,” she said. “Each and every department plays an important role – from the Client Service Centre where complaints are being lodged, the crime office, Crime Prevention Unit and the detectives.”

Backhoff also said officers all worked together to curb crime in the area and went the extra mile to ensure that a case goes successfully through court.

“We want to encourage the community to report cases and to bring the perpetrators to justice to ensure a safer community to live in. We as SAPS can only do it through your help and assistance.”
