Pheladi encourages students to take care of their mental health

According to Pheladi, the pressure that comes with being at varsity can sometimes be a lot to handle.

Our mental health includes all aspects of our physical, psychological, emotional, and social well-being. It has an impact on our attitudes, feelings, and actions. It also affects how we deal with stress, communicate with others, and make healthy choices. Mental wellness is crucial at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence to adulthood.

My name is Pheladi Selepe. I am a 19-year-old student studying digital multimedia. It’s not easy to deal with everything, especially as a student, so I am passionate about mental health awareness.

We struggle as students a lot. It’s challenging to manage all of the information we learn in school at once while also going about our daily lives. When students experience depression, they abuse alcohol and drugs as coping mechanisms.

Most of the time, I advise people to take care of their mental health because it will help them concentrate in class, especially students.

One thing I do is talk to my mother about the support system when I feel under pressure from all that varsity has to offer. She has always been my pillar of support and I am grateful.

Additionally, her perspective and advice help me gain a fresh outlook on the situation, allowing me to tackle challenges with renewed determination. I want to thank her for everything as we celebrate this Women`s Month; she is the best. I also want to encourage women out there to look after their health.
