Network is dedicated to finding missing persons
As requests for assistance rise, the vulnerable citizens support initiative is stepping up to help families in crisis.
In light of recent reports on WhatsApp groups of notices of missing persons issued by the vulnerable citizens support initiative (VCSI), the publication opted to know more about this initiative and their purpose.
Bhaai Cassim, secretary for the Johannesburg Sub-District Community Police Board, stated that the VCSI is a division of the civilian crime intelligence network (CCIN), comprising of a group of dedicated volunteers who are actively involved in assisting with the location of lost relatives. “Our sole purpose is to help find missing persons and reunite them with their loved ones. Although our operational area extends throughout South Africa, we have also been involved in cases that extend beyond our borders.”

Cassim stated that they are honoured to work in collaboration with the South African Police Service (SAPS) in many instances when request for help is received. “These requests for assistance have increased, following the success rates we have achieved and the reputation we have built as one of the foremost groups specialising in missing persons.”
He added that their network is constantly expanding, with the addition of many private security companies, law enforcement agencies, CPF’s, and individuals who are happy to operate under their umbrella.
