Go hear the beat of the tambourine at Reddford House Northcliff

Come dance, come jive, while having the time of your life as you enjoy Mama Mia, the school's annual production from July 30 to August 1.

Reddford House Northcliff is in the mood for a dance, and from July 30 to August 1, they want you to join them as the school showcases its annual production, Mama Mia.

Much like the winner, this production takes it all. From an all-star cast, picked from the many talented young thespians of the school, to those behind the curtain, making sure each scene is designed to perfection. A no-half measures approach was taken to make sure the audience is transported out of Fairland, and into the heart of Greece, just by one pull of the stage curtain.

Grade 10 learner Ayanda Sigaba is a lead dancer and chorus singer in the production. Mama Mia is her favourite production, and when she learned it would be the production the school was staging, she knew she just had to be part of it. “One thing about our school’s productions, is that it always brings people together.” Being part of such a production serves as the perfect escape for her.

Forming part of the chorus ensemble is Grade 7 learner Naledi Mzobe. Her favourite song to sing is Mama Mia, while her favourite dance belongs to Voulez-Vous. “The moves with this song are really a lot bigger and more challenging, which shows I am a really good dancer.” Prior to this production she has starred in two school productions, 2023’s production of Aladdin and last year’s Footloose, where she played the lead. Mzobe has always loved attention, so the stage has always been where she finds the perfect light to shine.

Playing the role of Donna is Dakota Prinsloo, a role best characterised by Meryl Streep, who is an actor Dakota feels proud to be able to emulate and draw inspiration from.

She has been part of the arts since she was five years old, realising, even then, that it was something she needed to part of. She was open to playing any role, but was grateful when she was afforded the opportunity to play this character. “This role has taught me to believe in myself.” Dakota hopes audiences leave each night, taking home the beauty of the production through everything it has to offer.

Background dancer, and Grade 5 learner, Emily Potgieter said she joined the production for the experience, along with the promise of fun, which came with being able to do it with her friends. Her favourite song to dance to is Waterloo. “Everyone is in that dance. We’re all together and celebrating.” The self-titled natural dancer says she loves being able to showcase her talents to audiences. Emily plans to take part in many more productions at the school.

Remember, even though money may be funny in a rich man’s world, what won’t be funny is missing out on this production. Get your ticket on Quicket.
