Hoërskool Linden sets the bar high in 2024 through academic and sporting achievements
From national accolades in public speaking to impressive performances in sports, Hoërskool Linden's commitment to excellence shined through in 2024.
Hoërskool Linden has solidified its reputation as a leading school, showcasing exceptional achievements in academics, cultural activities, and sports.
Principal Dr. Johan Wiehahn expressed pride in the students’ accomplishments, stating: “Our learners’ dedication and hard work have truly paid off, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements.”
The school excelled in cultural activities, with the Serenade group earning second place nationally at the Animato Competition and winning multiple awards, including Best Afrikaans Arrangement and Best Choreography.

In public speaking, Hildegard Schraader achieved first place in the Gauteng-West region and reached the Top 25 nationally in the ATKV Orators Competition.
In sports, Linden’s U15 fast 5 netball team secured fourth place nationally, while the swimming team was promoted to a higher division after achieving first place in the Interhigh-gala.
The tennis team featured five provincial players, including Almé van Schalkwyk, who represented South Africa.
The girls’ hockey team placed in the top four at the Pullen & Howell tournament, and the rugby team was crowned Golden Lions League champions.
Notably, Isabella Celliers was named a Protea shooter and South Africa’s number one Precision School Shooter.

Linden also produced the national U15 girls’ champion in chess, Siénne Scullard.
With only 818 enrolled learners, Linden proudly stands as the top-ranked Afrikaans school in greater Johannesburg, Midrand, and Eastrand, while being nationally ranked as the 83rd best Co-Ed High School in sports.
With 2025 almost on the cusp, Hoërskool Linden have achieved much in the year as they celebrate their success in academics, sports, arts and culture.
