Civilian Crime Intelligence Network recognises SCP Security as one of Gauteng’s top companies
SCP Security was honoured at the CCIN Convention for excellence in crime prevention.
SCP Security has been recognised as one of Gauteng’s top security companies after receiving a prestigious award at the Civilian Crime Intelligence Network Convention held in Germiston on September 13.
For Clive Maher, head of SCP Security, the accolade reflects more than just industry recognition; it validates decades of commitment to being on the ground in the fight against crime.

“It means a lot to be recognised as one of the major players in the security field in Gauteng,” Maher said.
“For me, this is the result of 12 years of hard work, striving to be among the top 10 security companies in the province. I’m very pleased to have received this award.”
Maher believes the company stands apart because of his personal involvement. Unlike many in leadership positions, he refuses to stay behind a desk.
“I’m on the ground with my team, in my clients’ faces, and in the face of crime every day. When you have a passion for the industry and you are personally involved in it, that makes a big difference.”
Gauteng’s crime challenges evolve daily, and Maher insists on staying one step ahead of criminals.
“Every day they come up with new ideas and strategies. We adapt, and we keep ourselves active in the fight against crime.”

Technology has also become central to the company’s success. From WhatsApp groups to Licence Plate Recognition cameras and faster communication systems, SCP leverages tools that cut response times and improve coordination between clients and teams on the ground.
Maher’s 25 years of combined experience in the South African Police Service and the private security sector have shaped his approach.
“That’s years of actively being on the ground and in this industry. If you want to know what you’re doing, you have to work on the ground. It’s about relationships, trust, and knowing how to handle crime first-hand.”
