Linden CPF calls on residents to inspire change this 16 Days of Activism
A community art initiative invites residents to use their creativity to spark hope and protect what matters most.
Art is taking centre stage in this year’s 16 Days of Activism campaign, as the Linden Community Policing Forum (CPF) calls on residents to use their creativity to inspire positive change.
The initiative invites artists, students, and community members to create A5 artworks — whether drawings, paintings, collages, photographs, or mixed media pieces — that reflect what they believe is most important to protect.

Completed artworks can be dropped off at various collection points, including participating schools, art studios, the Potted Glass Studio on 6th Street, or the Linden SAPS. A photograph or scanned copy of each piece can also be uploaded to the online gallery at www.lindencpf.co.za; the cut-off date is November 24.
The theme for the campaign, Your creativity can spark and inspire change: Show us what is important for you to protect, aims to shift the usual focus of the 16 Days of Activism from darkness to light.
Annelize Tichauer of the Linden CPF explained that the campaign is designed to celebrate unity and hope through art. “We wanted to find a project that brings out the tapestry of different people and also what is important to us as a community,” she said.
“Linden is a small but unique community — a beautiful mosaic of different cultures and backgrounds. Everyone knows where Linden is, and we wanted to show the good that exists here.”

Tichaeur added that while the 16 Days of Activism often highlight difficult issues such as bullying and domestic violence, this year’s campaign seeks to emphasise positivity.
“We did not want to focus on the dark aspect of it,” she said. “We wanted to focus on what gives us heart — what we want to protect. Whether it’s family, friendship, or the environment, standing up for what we cherish makes us stronger as a community.”
The public will be able to view the collected artworks at the Cresta Shopping Centre’s public gallery from November 27-30 throughout the 16 Days of Activism.
