Victory Park author pens courageous guide to whole-life happiness

Drawing from her own lived experience and decades of counselling, Dr Barbara Johnson charts a practical path from Wimp2Warrior, to achieve wholeness and hope.

Award-winning author, speaker, and specialist wellness counsellor Dr Barbara Johnson has released her latest book, Wimp2Warrior, a deeply personal work that explores the journey toward wholeness through what she calls the eight dimensions of life.

Based in Victory Park, Johnson is no stranger to storytelling rooted in real experience. A published author since 2014, she first gained attention with Yes, Yes, YOU! 10 Stepping Stones to GET ON with YOUR LIFE. Her fascination with storytelling, she says, lies in authenticity.

“Storytelling brings people together. It is about resonance, authenticity, vulnerability, and that human experience that talks of the soul of the storyteller into the soul of the story listener.”

Wimp2Warrior was conceived through Johnson’s own life transition, particularly her experience of leaving her marriage. She describes a period where she felt diminished and disconnected from her sense of self. “I had been degraded enough to become the wimp. It was the wimp that needed to find capacity within self to be able to stand into warrior.”

That transition became the foundation for the eight dimensions of life, a framework she developed to restore balance, fullness, challenge and beingness. Through this process, she says, she discovered a formula for reconnecting with her true self and finding unique happiness.

The book is not positioned as a set of instructions, but rather as a guided exploration. Drawing on 23 years of trauma counselling and life and executive coaching, Johnson aims to help readers understand the how of living, not just the theory. “We are all too often told instead of asked.”

She added that her work encourages reflection, rather than prescription. “Nobody likes to be told what to do. They want the opportunity to explore their own uniqueness and ways of doing life.”

At its core, Wimp2Warrior is about dignity, freedom, and self-discovery. Johnson believes soul-freedom allows individuals to live full, balanced lives, and to find, for themselves, their true self and unique happiness.
