Female body discovered in Emmarentia, police investigate
A quiet afternoon walk turned into a disturbing discovery after a woman’s body was found in Emmarentia near the riverbank, triggering a major police investigation with more questions than answers.
A woman’s body was discovered on January 21 along the embankment of a river in Emmarentia, prompting an urgent police investigation.
The discovery was reported shortly after 16:00 when a resident walking through a nearby park noticed the body lying in the river area between John McKenzie Drive and Emmarentia Dam. SCP Security was immediately alerted and responded to the scene, where the area was cordoned off.

Parkview police were contacted, and officers arrived soon thereafter. Police confirmed that a team was assembled to handle the investigation and that a formal statement is being taken from the resident who discovered the body.
SCP Private Fire Search and Rescue had been placed on standby to assist police should specialised support be required, including the possible retrieval of the body.
No further leads at this stage
SCP Security Operations Manager Jaun Van Der Westhuizen stated that at this stage, the cause of death is unknown. “There are no visible signs of decomposition. Authorities have stressed that it is too early to determine what led to the woman’s death.”
Van Der Westhuizen said all protocols were followed from the moment the alert was received.
“We mobilised immediately to secure the scene and prevent any interference,” he said.
“At this point, there is no confirmed cause of death. The matter has been handed over to Parkview SAPS, and our teams, including fire and rescue, remain on standby to assist where required.”
SCP security, Parkview police, and emergency personnel will remain on scene as the investigation continues. This is a developing story, and further updates are forthcoming.
