Blanket drive launched to support animals in need
A simple donation could make a life-changing difference for rescue animals this winter.
As winter approaches, Westdene resident Anthoney Bosman is calling on the community to donate blankets to support vulnerable animals in care at the Animal Anti-Cruelty League.
The organisation, which rescues and rehomes cats and dogs, is currently caring for more than 300 animals in its kennels.

With colder weather setting in, Bosman said there is an urgent need for warm materials.
“They don’t have enough blankets, and something as simple as one blanket can make a huge difference to an animal.”
Bosman is collecting a range of items, including old blankets, fleece throws, curtains and towels – anything that can provide warmth. Having led similar initiatives in the past, he believes small contributions can have a big impact.
“I’ve always loved animals, and these organisations like this one do incredible work, often with limited funding.”

To make donating easier, Bosman is offering to collect items from residents in Westdene and surrounding areas such as Melville.
He hopes to gather at least 100 blankets before collections close on May 9.
“Everyone has the power to do good,” he said. “You don’t have to spend money – just give what you have.”
