Albertsville volunteers turn 67 minutes into year-round community pride

For the Clean & Green Group, Mandela Day simply meant doing what they do every month.

While many groups marked Mandela Day with acts of service, members of the Clean & Green Group spent their 67 minutes doing what they do best – rolling up their sleeves to care for Albertsville Park on July 18.

Although the turnout was small, volunteers worked together to leave the park clean and welcoming, removing litter and tackling areas affected by illegal dumping.

The group said the park continues to face ongoing challenges, with people regularly discarding waste despite efforts to keep the public space tidy.

For these dedicated community members, however, caring for the park is about more than Mandela Day.

Every second Saturday of the month, they return to the park to clean, maintain and protect the green space they proudly call their own.
