Meat World Northcliff customer wins car after years of entering competitions

Gerald Neo Khiba never expected to win a car when he entered the Meat Your New Wheels competition. Now, the Meat World Northcliff regular is looking forward to travelling the country in his new Suzuki Swift.

Winning a brand-new Suzuki Swift 1.2 GL in the Meat Your New Wheels campaign was a moment Gerald Neo Khiba never imagined would come, despite years of entering competitions.

The Meat World Northcliff regular was overcome with emotion when he received a call from Jacaranda FM informing him that he had won the vehicle. “I was in disbelief. I always enter competitions, as I said, but I never thought one day I would win a car,” Khiba said. “I even cried on the day when I got the call from Jacaranda FM. It was nice.”

Khiba, who shops at Meat World Northcliff every month, said he entered the competition simply hoping for the best, without expecting to walk away with such a significant prize. A regular customer at the branch, he said he usually buys the store’s meat combo along with a few other items during his monthly visits.

The win holds particular significance for Khiba, who previously owned a Suzuki Swift that was written off after an accident. “Now, God blessed me with another one, which just brings more memories because I used to drive one.”

With the keys to his new car opening the door to fresh possibilities, Khiba said he planned to make the most of the opportunity by travelling more.

When asked who would be the first special person to join him for a drive, Khiba did not hesitate to name his fiancée.

The campaign also brought attention to Meat World Northcliff’s efforts to maintain strong relationships with its customers and give back to the community.

Butcher Robert De Barros said the branch took pride in offering personal service and making customers feel at home. “The one-on-one service we give our customers, that individual service, is something we hear about all the time,” De Barros said.

He added that the store aimed to deliver value for money, fresh products and a wide selection in a welcoming environment. “We offer value for money, freshness, a wide range of products, and a place that feels like home — a family butcher, as our name stipulates,” he said.

De Barros said the retailer regularly ran promotions to recognise its loyal customers, with prizes ranging from hampers to major giveaways. “We’re always doing promotions. If it’s not giving away cars, we give away monthly promotions and hampers. We’re always doing something, always giving back to the community and to our loyal customers — the people who look after us,” he said.

For Khiba, however, the latest promotion delivered far more than an unexpected prize. It brought the chance to return to a car he once owned, create new memories and explore more of the country with his fiancée by his side.

De Barros wished the winner well as he prepared to enjoy his new vehicle. “Enjoy it, good luck. Not everybody wins a car, and it’s a great prize to get. All the best, lots of safe kilometres, and be safe out there,” he said.
