‘FNB offered me a bribe’

Nico Nieman, who was allegedly wrongfully accused of owing FNB money, said he was offered bribe money by the banks representatives.

Nico Niemand writes in response to Resident: FNB’s slogan sucks, week ending 28 November:

Thank you for your article in the Northcliff Melville Times.

The meeting that Mr Shaun Chellin is referring to was on 22 August last year at 10am. We only had one meeting and Mr Chellin claims that we had several meetings.

In attendance was myself, Shaun Chellin (FNB head – Legal) and Mr Freeborough (FNB).

Firstly, I want to express that I have not claimed for any monetary compensation and that I have only indicated my losses. In this meeting they tried to convince me that I owed FNB a small amount of R7 436. I disagree with this shortfall.

When I told them about the fraud and corruption within FNB bank, Mr Chellin and Mr Freeborough suddenly offered me money to shut my mouth. I declined their offer (bribe).

How can I accept an apple when I have lost an apple tree? He phoned me later that same day and wanted proof of the corruption. Copies were delivered to Michael Jordaan, Shaun Chellin and Jacques Celliers. These are the same documents that will be used in the criminal case against FNB.

So many people have contacted me since Rottenbank was exposed with the same story. They lost their investments due to corruption within the bank and employees not honouring their agreements.
