Linden Neighbourhood Watch and the police continue to fight crime in the area.
Following the recent house break-in which took place in Linden on Eighth Street, Linden neighbourhood watch’s Fareed Hoosen said: Ënough is enough.”
Two to three males broke into a house and patrollers on Seventh Street spotted a man jumping over a gate into number six, said Hoosen.
“This was in daylight and shows the brazen attitude of the house breakers,” he said. “When they [the suspects] ran over to Fifth Avenue and into a property in Anreith Road they were scared off by property owners.”
Hoosen urged residents to know their neighbours and also to stay alert during the festive season.
“Our residents should all join together in helping the police to fight crime,” he said.
Hoosen also wished everyone well for the festive season.
“Stay safe and have a wonderful festive season. Thank you to the team of neighbourhood watch patrollers and volunteers who have given up their time to keep our suburb safer. Next year, we want to see more people involved in community safety projects in our suburb,” he said.
Hoosen’s safety tips for festive season
- Don’t leave lights on all day and night – Criminals look for those signs.
- Always make it seem that you are home.
- Arrange extra patrols day and night.
- Secure your back property as much as the front.
- Keep your neighbour’s contact numbers handy and know who is away.
