Competing at the BMX World Championship is a dream come true for Pratt.

“I am very nervous but also excited. Being able to compete against the top riders from different countries is exciting as we all have different techniques and skills. It’s a challenge that I can never give up pushing on,” said Pratt.

Pratt was first diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 15, and this has been challenging for him as a biker.

Brandon Pratt said that he is excited and cannot wait to see what the future holds for him.

“This has been challenging as I don’t always know when the low sugar is going to hit. I always have to make sure I have sweets with me to bring my sugar up again. I have to keep monitoring my glucose on a daily basis to make sure I put the right amount of insulin in,” commented Pratt.

Meanwhile, getting funds for him to participate in Scotland has been difficult for Pratt as he is self-funded. He hopes to get raise funds for his trip and also so that he can achieve his dreams of representing South Africa in the BMX World Championship.

The competition takes place from August 4 to 13. Those who wish to donate can contact him on 068 676 1176.
