Joburg hosts The Color Run

EMMARENTIA — 'The happiest five kilometre on the planet' arrives at Roosevelt High School.

Roosevelt High School has been marked to host The Color Run on 20 September.

The Color Run is a 5km race in which competitors begin wearing plain white clothes. At every kilometre mark they are pelted with coloured powder so that by the end of the race the participants are covered in a myriad of bright colours. The race is not timed as it is a fun occasion rather than a competitive event.

The finish line will feature a colour festival where those attending will be able to throw coloured powder on one another and partake in the festivity.

The run claims to be the ‘original paint race’. Founded in 2012, the purpose of the event is to promote healthiness and happiness by bringing the community together.

The event will take place in Durban and Cape Town before being hosted in Joburg. The run has partnered with the Adopt-a-School Foundation and are donating R10 from every ticket sold to support education in each host city.
