The Spring season is an opportunity for people to enjoy the end of winter and welcome the warmer weather with creative ways to spend time outside.
Wishing Wells Nursery School in Blackheath celebrated the arrival of spring with a Spring Day festival on 1 September where the pupils created their own hats made out of recycled goods.
The pupils were taught about the meaning behind Spring Day and what happens in nature during this period. Principle Sandra-Diane Brodie said the children were excited about the change of season and warmer weather that allows them to have more outdoor activities. “Since the change of season the teachers take the pupils out to play on a regular basis to explore what is happening in nature,” she said.
Brodie also said that at the moment the school is preparing for the Rugby World Cup where pupils will decorate each class with a rugby theme. “For Heritage Day our pupils will prepare a dish that best represents their heritage for pupils to learn about the meaning behind this day and the kind of dishes people from different cultures celebrate,” she said.
