Young DJ gains 11 000 followers
NORTHCLIFF – 18-year-old Luke Knox shoots to success, gaining 11 400 followers on Instagram.
Despite only recently turning 18, Luke Knox is a DJ and producer from Northcliff that has taken the scene by storm. After just two years of performing as a DJ, Knox has managed to amass 11 400 followers on Instagram.

Real name Luke Mulville, Knox is a Matric pupil at The King’s School Robin Hills. He has performed a number of times but admits that he has been slightly hampered from playing at U18 venues. However, Knox’s growing prowess has allowed him the opportunity to play at more prestigious events. He was able to perform at the Sacred Heart Music Festival on Heritage Day beside DJ Fresh and Euphonik in his “biggest gig” thus far.

Knox’s hypnotic electronic sound has gained him a good footing in the Johannesburg music climate. “I always had a passion for music,” said Knox. He revealed that he began his journey by playing the drums. He became bored playing the drums by himself, however, and was soon drawn to music production. “I wanted to be the drums, be the guitar, be everything.”
Knox is releasing his own EP entitled The One, which will be available on 22 October on Soundcloud. The young DJ has high aspirations for his career stating, “My dream is to carry on making music and DJing,” but he will pursue his dream alongside gaining a tertiary education as he intends to study sound engineering in the future.

His inspirations include artists with varying music styles such as The Chainsmokers and Locnville. “Locnville made me want to start [DJing], they’re just two random guys from South Africa. They made me think that maybe I could do something like that,” said Knox.
Knox currently has 1 117 followers on Twitter and 673 followers on Soundcloud. The young musician has gained fast success and has the potential to be a household name in the future.
