Don of Northcliff goes gold

NORTHCLIFF – Don Dada's official Nelson Mandela Day song goes gold.

Menelik Nesta Gibbons popularly known as Don Dada has, over the last year, taken the airwaves by storm.

Dada, whose name means to be the highest ranking boss on the street, recently received a Risa Gold Award for the 2017 official Nelson Mandela Day song. He was presented with the award on 23 February.

Dada released his debut album in the middle of last year which helped him break into the South African music scene.

While he only released his debut album last year, he has had 17 years of experience on the music scene. He explained that he has been around, just always behind the scenes.

Shortly after releasing his first album, he landed a deal with Content Connect Africa to release Viva Mandela, the official 2017 Nelson Mandela Day song.

The song is available on MTN Music+ for download and can be set as an MTN CallerTune by dialling *123*46664#

Since the release of the song, it went gold and all the work he put in finally paid off.

Dada has been tapping into all channels leading to the South African music scene and is also involved with 1912 Online Radio and currently has is own hip-hop show, Dada Friday, which is on from 6pm to 8pm every Friday.

The show specifically focuses on hip-hop culture and empowering the youth by giving them a platform to show what they’re made of on his show.

Dada is overjoyed with his most recent success, as is his family who play a significant role in his career. He attributes his success to a lot of hard work in the studio but above all, to God.
