Watch: Distressed elephant mom helps calf to stand
After giving birth, an elephant believed to be a first-time mother goes through all the emotions as she waits for her newborn to get up on its feet.
A special event unfolded in front of 31-year-old Brett Marneweck’s eyes when he saw a desperate elephant mom trying to help her newborn to stand.
Marneweck is a seasoned field ranger and believes it was the mother’s first born as she showed a variety of emotions.
“The mother elephant tried helping the calf to stand, nudging rather roughly. Her inexperience showed, but eventually it was a heartwarming sight. The baby elephant finally stood, leaning against its mother for support,” he tells LatestSightings.com.
