Warning: Fake R200 note used at tuck shop in Ladysmith

The tuck shop owner sends a warning out to others to be on the lookout for fake money

A fake R200 note was used at a tuck shop in Acaciavale just a few days ago.

The shop owner says she was caught off-guard by the note that was handed to her.

She was approached by a man in his 30s whom she knew, as he had worked for her a few times at her home.

She said the man asked her for change for the note and she gave it to him, not realising the money that had been given to her was counterfeit.

The man left with real money and she had the fake R200 note in her possession, still none the wiser as to what had just happened.

The money was then taken to the bank, where it was supposed to be deposited. However, the bank wouldn’t accept the note as it was of course fake.
