4th dog carcass found dumped in Van Der Bijl Street

The other three carcasses have still not been removed from the area.

Yet another dead dog has been dumped in Van Der Bijl Street, bringing the number of carcasses found at the same spot to four in less than two weeks.

Shawn Vermaak of the Newcastle District and Residents’ Forum was conducting a site visit in the Riverside Industrial area this afternoon (August 20) when he came across the latest carcass and immediately alerted Newcastle Advertiser journalists.

“We all have doggies at home, so yeah, I have no words,” said a disgruntled and visibly upset Vermaak.

Previous carcasses remain uncollected

To make matters worse, the previous three carcasses have still not been removed from the area.

The situation has left business owners in the vicinity questioning the efficiency of local government and its ‘dedication’ to service delivery.

The Newcastle Advertiser has once again brought the matter to the attention of Newcastle Municipality.
