Annual Thaipoosam Kavady Festival – Glencoe

The trustees, members and officials of the Glencoe Hindu Temple invites you and your family to the annual Thaipoosam Kavady Festival beginning with the flag hoisting on January 15 and concluding on January 24.
January 15: Flag hoisting and supper. January 16: Prayer commencing at 5pm and supper will be provided.

January 17: Thirukalyanum – wedding of Lord Muruga, Valli and Deivayanai commencing at 10am. Lunch sponsored by Mr and Mrs Devraj Govender, sons and families. January 18: Prayer commencing at 6pm and supper will be provided. January 18: Prayer commencing at 6pm and supper will be provided. January 19: Prayer commencing at 6pm and supper will be provided. January 20: Prayer commencing at 6pm and supper will be provided.

January 21: Prayer commencing at 6pm and supper will be provided. January 22: Prayer commencing at 6pm and supper will be provided. January 23: Prayer commencing at 5pm and supper will be provided. January 24: Main Thaipoosam Kavady Procession. Commencing at 8am and proceeding to the river.

Flag dehoisting and concluding prayer at 1pm. Lunch sponsored by the kind generosity of Dr and Mrs R.S Naicker and family in Newcastle.
Kavady: R50, Paal Kodum: R50 and Obayam: R40. Officiating Priest Guru Krishnamoorty. Devotees are requested to make prior bookings for Kavadies and Paal Kodums. Building fund: Funds are needed to commemorate renovations and to build a dining hall. Donations in cash or kind will be greatly appreciated.
