Pound seats take a colourful turn
CANSA’s Pet Lovers Sprayathon, alongside the Newcastle SPCA’s In-The-Pound-Seats are joining forces on May 10 to bring Newcastle some community fun – with a purpose.
A new approach was taken towards the well-known subject of cancer. Many, if not all, families have experienced tragedy or trauma linked to cancer. With CANSA and the SPCA working together, they have seen a strong bond between human and animal. These bonds are formed with unconditional love, and with this love, burdens we carry are made lighter.
“A community is about sharing and caring. No one likes living in isolation,” said Estella Naicker, CANSA community mobiliser.
“It’s the same with animals. They do not like living in isolation, and this is why we are urging people to spend some time with these animals and give them the attention they deserve,” Heather Gero, manager at the SPCA, added.
All pet lovers, along with their furry friends, can get their hair sprayed in support of cancer patients on May 10 at the SPCA, Sampson Drive 1. The SPCA is also inviting members of the public to join the festivities by spending time in the kennels with the animals that await a home.
The SPCA will be giving free rabies inoculations to all pets, which are more than welcome to join the family fun.
Any business or service organisation that would like to participate, can contact Estella on 079 256 7570 or Heather at 071 562 9443.
