TO BEGIN with, Saturday, June 28,  looked like it was going to provide unpleasant weather in which to play in the Vryheid Moths Freedom Shellhole Golf Day, but participating golfers were in the end rewarded with a bright and sunny winter’s day.

They were also rewarded with some wonderful prizes and some nourishing foods to keep out the winter chills, including hot dogs, some stick-to-the-ribs pork and bean soup, and what was said to be a “Rooi Piet’s” hadeda curry which in fact was chicken.

The day was made possible by the great support that the Moths received from businesses. Please support these businesses which supported the Moths, and ultimately supported the charities to which the Moths will donate the proceeds of the day.

The day’s sponsors of cash, goods and foods included (in no particular order): Protea Coin Group/Cameo, Spar Paulpietersburg, Shell Vryheid, Mr Kathrada at Engen, Joe “Bok” Strydom, AbaQulusi Spar, Tide Foods, First National Battery, Ivan Schwegman, Nedbank Vryheid, Koos Mengel, Green Leaf, Boxer Plaza, Checkers Vryheid, Spur Vryheid, Steers/Debonairs/Something Fishy, Roman’s Pizza, SAB Miller, Pick ‘n Pay Vryheid, Cash & Carry Liquors, Aqua Water Solutions and Gooderson Leasure, NTT Toyota and the Pool Shop.

The Moths would also like to thank the Vryheid Country Club for accommodating this day, and all the golfers who participated – see you all again next year.
