Appreciating art at DSS

With a lot of focus placed on academics, art is often overlooked and such an exhibition gives DSS students and artists the opportunity to shine

On Saturday, October 24 residents were invited to Drakensberg Secondary School (DSS) for an art exhibition. They had the opportunity to view structures, paintings, portraits, mosaic’s, drawings and pottery amongst others.

The school aims at making the art exhibition one of their annual events. The Principal Mr Sewlal said that with a lot of focus placed on academics, art is often overlooked and such an exhibition gives DSS students and artists the opportunity to shine.

Walking into the room left one amazed at the breath taking pieces. Learners brought along friends and family to view the art pieces they have been working on over the past three terms.

“Many believe that being able to be artistic is a talent, wrong. There are many techniques that we teach for one to learn how to be artistic,” expressed DSS Art teacher, Mr Krishna.
