Ringing in the Chinese new year in oriental style

The Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in conjunction with the Chinese Community, ushered in the Year of the Monkey at their New Year celebrations held at Blackrock Casino last Saturday.

Guests indulged themselves in the true experience of the Chinese culture, awhile being entertained by cultural dances and performances.

Chinese lanterns, chopsticks and authentic Chinese cuisine complemented the celebrations.

Newcastle Advertiser journalist, Nicole Collett, as well as Quinton Boucher of the Newcastle Sun, were honoured with special awards for their contributions to the Chinese community over the past few years.
