Saturday, July 30 was D-day as participants went big and brought their A-game to the Blackrock grounds.

The much anticipated Blackrock Casino and Supersonic Last Ride car show lived up to expectations as one of the best car shows Newcastle has ever seen.

Saturday, July 30 was D-day as participants went big and brought their A-game to the Blackrock grounds.

From breaking a world record of 170.8 decibels of sound, to competing for the prize of ultimate dream ride, competitors polished their rides and twerked their sound systems as the best of the best were put to the test.

The entertainment line-up saw drifters, spinners, car sound competitions, show n shine, go-karts, drift trikes and a 4×4 challenge.

Vissy Pillay won a cellphone for guessing 17 people would fit in one car.

To commemorate Supersonic’s 10th anniversary, organisers pulled out all the stops and put on a show second to none.

Owner of Supersonic, Terence Chetty said: “We would like to thank all our sponsors and all who supported this initiative.”

The results were as follows.
Sound Competition:
1st – Team Supersonic Newcastle Car Mart
– 170.8 dB
2nd – Joelen Naidoo – 154.8 dB
3rd – Preetham Birbal – 153.7 dB
Show n Shine:
1st – Avesh Maharaj – VW Golf
2nd – Nish Ragubeer – Nissan 1400
3rd – Ravi Govender – BMW 325
Ultimate Dream Ride:
Reynard from Witbank – Nissan NP200
