uThukela SAPS hosts successful Team Building and Fun Day

Officers from 16 police stations gathered at 5SAI Army Base for a day of team building, fitness and friendly competition.

Acting uThukela SAPS district commissioner, Brigadier ZO Kunene, hosted the annual uThukela District SAPS Team Building and Fun Day on Friday (May 15) at the 5SAI Army Base sports field.

Officers from 16 surrounding police stations attended the event and participated in a variety of sporting and team-building activities aimed at promoting unity, fitness and camaraderie.

Officers tested in physical activities

As part of the programme, officers were put through physical assessments before taking part in several planned fun activities.

The day’s events included soccer and netball tournaments, aerobics sessions, tug-of-war and relay races. Teams from the district, which is divided into three zones, competed against each other throughout the day.

The event was well attended and created an atmosphere filled with energy, teamwork and friendly competition.

Outstanding participants recognised

Admin Clerk NE Gumbi from Van Reenen SAPS was named ‘Sportswoman of the Day’, while Sergeant MB Dlamini from the Ladysmith Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit won the ‘Sportsman of the Day’ award.
