Racing duo impress in Matatiele

The boys were well prepped for the cold front and the snow on the mountain ranges and they thoroughly enjoyed the 19km loop, despite the mud, rain and sleet

Estcourt locals, Bryce Petersen and Ethan Richmond participated in the last round of the X-Country 2016 season in Matatiele during the weekend.

The boys were well prepped for the cold front and the snow on the mountain ranges and they thoroughly enjoyed the 19km loop, despite the mud, rain and sleet. Ethan completed two chilly laps in the WOW class and placed eighth amongst the other boys.

The WOW class comprises of 65cc as well as 85cc so Ethan did very well considering he is competing against bikes that are bigger and more capable than a 65cc.

Bryce has been off the bike for some time after an accident in May where he broke his arm and his leg. While he was injured he missed two races that formed part of the championship so won’t place well in the 2016 championship, but that didn’t stop him on the weekend.
After much practice and hard work, he made an impressive come back.

Bryce finished on top of the podium after completing four laps with the fastest lap time in the 65cc regional class. The boys have enjoyed competing in the KZN X-Country Championship and look forward to the 2017 racing season.
