Youth Day marked by a walk, small run, big run in Sibongile

Braving a chilly morning to mark Youth Day - old and young gather

Youth Day was marked in Sibongile this morning by a walk, fun run and a 21km half-marathon organised by the Sibongile Music Society in conjunction with the Endumeni Municipality and many other private sponsors.

The fun run was won by Sanele Msomi and there was plenty of support from Ken Vorster and the Biggarsberg Athletics Club members. The senior men and women enjoyed a walk around the township with plenty of support from spectators.

The main race, the 21km, was won by Sipho Phungula with Ayanda Buthelezi second and Thembinkosi Ngema who won silver in the Comrades, third.  There is also street soccer later and a great party atmosphere to mark Youth Day!
