Braving the elements at the Bushmans Trail Run

Seasoned trail runners and winners of the two longest distances each day, Zoe Papadakis and Rhain Hoskins, were crowned as the Bushman's Trail Champions at prize giving on Sunday

During the weekend 350 participants took on the elements and their own personal challenges at the inaugural Bushmans Trail Run. Staged at Wagendrift Dam this event was run in partnership between Estcourt Athletic Club and KZN Trail Running.

Staged over two days, the 5km, 10km, 20km and 30km routes provided beautiful views over Wagendrift Dam.

The trail accommodated families out for a day of fun as well as the more serious athletes running on both Saturday and Sunday with different routes each day.

Seasoned trail runners and winners of the two longest distances each day, Zoe Papadakis and Rhain Hoskins, were crowned as the Bushman’s Trail Champions at prize giving on Sunday.

All prize winners took home generously donated prizes from Eskort Limited who were also on hand with delicious breakfast rolls, burgers and tasty treats over the two days.

For those needing their coffee fix, Exploring Coffee provided their quality roasted offerings and to satisfy thirsts of a different kind, Nottingham Road Brewing Company served up their ever popular golden brews! The KZN Trail Running KidZone for children made it possible for parents to get out on the trails while experienced child minders occupied the children.

Even the gusty winds were unable to deter the participants’ spirits on the weekend! We look forward to the Bushman’s Trail becoming an annual fixture on the KZN Trail running calendar.
