Swimmers take the plunge at swimming gala

During the gala, excellent times were achieve, as the under nine boys and girls competitors provided nail-biting entertainment as they swam their hearts out.

The Newcastle Swim Club played host to five other towns at this years elite swimming gala on Saturday, January 27 at Newcastle Pool.

An array of swimmers participated in the gala, with teams from Uniswim, Vryheid, Dundee, Ladysmith and Newcastle in attendance.

During the gala, excellent times were achieve, as the under nine boys and girls competitors provided nail-biting entertainment as they swam their hearts out.

Shravan Goli had a good day, as he achieved his first level times after putting in hard work and dedication.

Other swimmers also achieved their level qualifying times.

“We look forward to see more of them in the future,” said an official.

Three of Newcastle Swim Club’s classified swimmers; Melisca Everson, Paula van Zyl and Johandi de Clerq, achieved excellent positions.

“We wish Paula van Zyl everything of the best for her International gala in Kenya this weekend.”

The Newcastle Swim Club thanked all participants and helpers at the gala.

The Club’s members will be participating in the annual Chelmsford Challenge on February 18 at Chelmsford Dam. More information is available at www.swimnewcastle.co.za
