GALLERY: Burns supper was a huge success
Burns was born on January 27, 1759, and the event is celebrated each year by Scottish Lodges around the world.
On January 27, the Coronation Lodge 930 S.C. of Newcastle held its annual Burns Supper, in celebration of the life and poetry of the poet Robert Burns.
The supper was also used to raise funds, which would be donated to a selected local charity at a later stage.
Burns is noted for poems like A Red, Red Rose, To a Mouse and Auld Lang Syne, but it is Burns’ less known poem Ode to Haggis that was the inspiration for the evening.

Patrons were welcomed by the traditional bagpipes of Billy Villiers, and enjoyed the Scottish fare and Burns’ poetry.
The Coronation Masonic Lodge’s Burns supper was truly a memorable evening.
