RACEWAY NEWS: Oval Track racers fight for the flag

Once the dust settled and the heats were complete, the following racers received top honours in their respective categories:

Motorsport enthusiasts got their speed fix on Saturday.

Itching for their regular dose of adrenaline, scores of fans arrived at the Oval Raceway to spectate at the first race of the season.

And what a race it was.

Once the dust settled and the heats were complete, the following racers received top honours in their respective categories:

Go-karts

Raeesa Cassim claimed first place, followed by Liam Lindeque.

1600s

Zaakira Khan crossed the line in first position, with Wilma Lindeque and Jean de Necker in second and third respectively.

1660s

In first position was Tiaan Buys, followed by Kevin White in second and Shaukat Khan in third.

2-litres

Faizel Cassim secured the victory, with Kevin White and Sha

ukat Khan taking second and third position respectively.

Hot rods

Gideon Hand proved the fastest racer of the day, with Willie de Wit the divisional runner-up and Johan Buys in third position.

Tin tops

Veteran racer, Boet Buys took the chequered flag, fending off the challenges of both JP Bruin and Johan Buys.

Congratulations to the podium finishers on a wondrous display of speed and precision!
