#Raisingkids the Paul Bushell way – (Gallery)
With his debut book #raisingkids, Newcastle psychologist Paul Bushell not only answered the many questions parents are faced with today, but also emphasised learning how to thrive in a constantly changing world.
Becoming a parent is one of the most natural things on earth, yet it can be challenging and rewarding at the same time.
Between all the self-help guides and parenting books available, it can become very confusing and stressful to know what to do, when to do it, and how to approach every new day.

With his debut book #raisingkids, Newcastle psychologist Paul Bushell not only answered the many questions parents are faced with today, but also emphasised learning how to thrive in a constantly changing world.
For Bushell, it was important to write a guide for all parents and people who work with children to help prepare them, and their children, to be better in an ever-changing new world.
“How many of us have asked a child what they wanted to be when they grow up?” Bushell asked guests at the launch.
The answer he provided was simple: “Stop asking.” According to him, the world changes daily at an astonishing pace, and even though we do not realise it, we are raising children to do jobs that most probably do not as yet exist.
“I’m not a parent, unless you count my dog Petals, and I don’t specialise in working with children, but I know a bit about people and how important childhood is in making us who we are,” he explained.
#raisingkids is no ordinary text-heavy, self-help guide, but rather an interactive and informal must-have manual on how to face everyday life as a parent or guardian, even for those of us who have parenthood already figured out.
