From fishing to shopping, socialising to eating, there was something for everyone at the market

As the sun warmed up a chilly morning, so too did Weenen light up with visitors and locals supporting the Christmas in July market.

The minute one drove into the Owl and Elephant Lodge, it was evident that fun was being had. From fishing to shopping, socialising to eating, there was something for everyone at the market.

Isup Hussain from Weenen enticed shoppers with the enticing smell of his frying savouries.

Set in the beautiful surroundings of the lodge, people browsed the various stalls, which offered an array of homemade and unique items that included woodwork, candles, jewellery and scrumptious food.

Market organisers Sherlene Gericke and Deleene Wagner welcomed everyone with a smile and the laughter and relaxed atmosphere were proof that the market was being thoroughly enjoyed.

The little ones even tried their hand at fishing and a competitive streak turned it into a mini-fishing competition.

Organisations and individuals showed off their goods to shoppers, either describing the intricacy in their items or luring in passers-by with delectable aromas.
