Nicky amplifies his love for car sound

With the upcoming Show Off Your Ride Car Show in August, Nicky said he is looking forward to entering his car again.

Inspiration which stemmed from a Fast and Furious movie quickly turned into a life-long hobby for Nicky Marais.

The 37-year-old car enthusiast made his first appearance at a Show n Shine and Car Show almost 20 years ago and his passion has since escalated.

He has received seven awards thus far in various car categories over the years.

“The first car I entered was a Jetta 2,” he recalled.

This car journey for Nicky took flight as he continued to enter competitions year after year.

“I entered my Suzuki Swift in a competition in Dundee and won an award there.”

Nicky also has a Honda Ballade which he keeps for local runs.

“To be normal is boring. I’d rather be different and stand out.”

Nicky’s, wife Nadia also supported her husband in this intriguing sport which he dedicated much of his time to.

The father of two boys, is determined to impart his knowledge of cars and car sound to his sons as they grow older.

“I have two boys, three and six-years-old. I want to get them involved in cars too.”

Pimping up his ride is not all Nicky is about, he is a Correctional Officer by profession.

When he is not at work, you will find Nicky twerking his cars and maintaining their immaculate condition.

He also explained the key to claiming awards was to take care of one’s car and feel proud to show it off .

With the upcoming Show Off Your Ride Car Show in August, Nicky said he is looking forward to entering his car again.

“I attend car shows religiously, I can’t wait for the show.”
